California is a State in the US known for its beautiful beaches, shopping areas, the Golden Gate and Hollywood. But it can sometimes get quite pricey, and traveling doesn’t have to be expensive for you to enjoy it! It’s all about doing some research. You will find cheap, fun adventure and even many places that don’t charge an entrance fee.
Here are 3 out of many that you can do for free in California, other than beaches:
1. The Ford House – You can find this one in the Mendocino, as part of the Headlands State Parks area of California. It is one of those places where can learn about the history of the town and learn about other fun places to visit in the area. It has an exhibit that shows how the town was as a settlement, tools from Native Americans and a scale model of how the town looked in 1890. Make sure to ask about their seasonal exhibits too.
2. Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens – If culture is your thing, and you are close to Pasadena this is a must for you! Here you will find 3 art galleries, a library with a good collection of rare books, all in the middle of a 150 acre property beautifully landscaped with gardens. Keep in mind that to be able to see all the mentioned above and the 14,000 species of plants for free you have to get there on the 1st Thursday of month.
3. First San Diego Courthouse – This is a historic building that was intended to be a town hall and a school, it was built in the late 1847 by a Mormon Battalion. It was one of the fist brick structures in the town and had to be reconstructed in 1992.
